Acoustically optimised ceiling for GP Racing Simulators

  •

GP Racing Simulators is Scotland’s first ever premier full-motion Virtual Reality Racing Centre, offering an unparalleled motorsport experience. Located in Playsport, just outside Glasgow’s city centre, this futuristic venue utilises state-of-the-art technology to deliver hyper-realistic racing simulations.

Architects Holmes Miller and main contractors Eco Construction Scotland faced the task of designing a complete ceiling solution for the venue. Their goal was to create an eye-catching, acoustically optimised ceiling that could even incorporate a cleverly designed racetrack.

Additionally, the design needed to seamlessly integrate various other elements, including bespoke lighting, without limiting creative freedom. The chosen ceiling also had to ensure an acoustic environment that enhances the overall experience for visitors.

SOLUTION

To meet the design and acoustic requirements of GP Racing Simulators, Holmes Miller and Eco Construction Scotland chose the Sonify system by Zentia. Sonify offers a canopy and baffle ceiling solution that combines unique design potential with high performance and acoustic excellence.

For the racing centre, Zentia collaborated closely with the project teams to develop a bespoke Nexus system and a custom colour scheme for the baffles which were installed on a black grid. The innovative 3D Studio, an online configuration platform, allowed architects and specifiers to experiment with and perfect their ceiling designs before finalising them.

Zentia provided a comprehensive design service, including free consultations and visual layout drawings, along with continuous on-site support and installation assistance. This ensured the seamless integration of the ceiling elements, enhancing both the aesthetic and acoustic experience of the venue.

The result of this meticulous collaboration is a stunning and immersive environment that sets a new standard for virtual reality racing experiences. GP Racing Simulators now boasts a visually striking and acoustically optimised space that offers an unparalleled racing adventure in the heart of Scotland.
