Kilnbridge completes complex Bridgewater Triangle Bridge installation in Stratford

Kilnbridge is proud to announce the successful completion of the Bridgewater Triangle Bridge lift-in, marking an important milestone in enabling new development at London Legacy Development Corporation’s (LLDC) and Ballymore’s Bridgewater Triangle site. The Bridge is a vital piece of infrastructure that will enhance connectivity between the Bridgewater Triangle site, Pudding Mill Allotments, Pudding Mill Lane DLR station, and Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

The visually striking new bridge, designed by award-winning architects William Matthews Associates, was lifted into its final position on 1 August 2025 via a carefully choreographed marine operation. This technically ambitious feat drew attention from across the industry, showcasing Kilnbridge’s expertise in delivering high-complexity infrastructure in any kind of environment.

Kilnbridge was originally engaged under a Pre-Construction Services Agreement (PCSA) to provide early-stage buildability advice and planning support. Following successful collaboration, Kilnbridge was appointed to deliver the entire scope of works which included demolition of the existing 1930s bridge, full steel fabrication, marine logistics and installation, and on-site structural assembly and finishing.

The project demanded exceptional coordination, with the bridge floated into place via pontoons to overcome crane access limitations. Kilnbridge’s in-house teams were able to deliver a marine-based installation strategy, fully prefabricated structural modules, and innovative lifting systems, all while navigating limited site access and strict programme timelines.

The completion of the Bridgewater Triangle Bridge reinforces Kilnbridge’s longstanding presence in east London, following key project contributions to BBC Music Studios, Sadler’s Wells East, and other major developments at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. The bridge will improve pedestrian and cycle access, support sustainable travel, and play a key role in unlocking future homes, workspaces, and public spaces as part of the area’s wider development.
