Your expertise is required to help apprentices follow in your footsteps
Due to exceptional enrollment uptake, the Building Controls Industry Association (BCIA) requires additional End Point Assessors to support the development of apprentice BEMS Controls Engineers.
Needed throughout London and the south east region, the End Point Assessors will be crucial to the grading process, which is integral to the BEMS Controls Engineer, Level 4 Apprenticeship Standard.
More than 245 apprentices are currently enrolled in the BEMS Controls Engineer programme, confirming its unprecedented popularity. Hence, with the early cohorts ready to start end point assessments to complete their apprenticeships, the BCIA is urging members to consider lending their extensive knowledge to help deliver a robust, accurate review process.
As an Industry Assessor, you would usually complete a minimum of six assessments per year, each one taking approximately 14hrs. Assessors will bring BEMS technical expertise and will work alongside a professional assessor. Assessments combine remote and face-to-face assessment including a project observation on site. Prior to the assessments, you will be required to complete an induction and training course. This is generally a half-day process, with standardisation and update training required at least once a year.
All roles are self-employed and contracted on a freelance basis. Assessors will receive a payment per completed assessment and BCIA are also available to offer a limited number of ‘Golden Hello’ incentives worth in the region of £500.
As an Industry Assessor, your knowledge and expertise will be essential to the qualifying apprentices, facilitating their path to becoming confident BEMS Engineers. In all respects, this is a rewarding role for members looking to develop the skills of a new building generation.
