Four projects shortlisted for Sika Roofing

  •

Sika’s Roofing Division is excited to announce that five of its projects have been shortlisted across four categories for the SPRA (Single Ply Roofing Association) Awards. As the awards honour roofing excellence, Sika is looking forward to participating in recognising outstanding projects and best practices within the industry.  The categories that Sika’s Roofing Division have been shortlisted in include: “Best New Build”, “Best Small Project”, “Health and Safety Award” and the “Sustainability Award”.

The “Best New Build Award” recognises a project that represents an outstanding example of single ply roofing technology and workmanship. Sika’s project at Albion Place, completed alongside Invictus Roofing Ltd, has been shortlisted, along with the Temple Park Crescent new build residential development project, which was carried out in partnership with Ashton Building Systems. The Temple Park Crescent project featured not only the installation of the SikaRoof® green roof system, but also the incorporation of a single ply warm roof and a paved warm roof system.

For the “Best Small Project” category, Sika’s project at Tettenhall College has been shortlisted, alongside a second project - The Butterfly Centre. This category showcases projects that represent an outstanding example of how single ply roofing technology and workmanship can be applied on a smaller scale (<100m2). Tettenhall College was a milestone project for Sika, as it was the first installation of its Basalt Grey Sarnafil® AT in the UK, installed by De Rosa Installations Ltd across a 73m2 exterior roof. The Butterfly Centre, also shortlisted, is an important hub providing mental health support for the community of Harlow. The project was televised on DIY SOS and exemplifies the power of collective effort, with multiple teams coming together to finish the project and provide vital space for those in need.

The “Health and Safety Award” category recognises an organisation that exhibits a culture that proactively nurtures the positive mental health of its employees and subcontractors. Sika has been shortlisted for its joint project with Invictus Roofing Ltd at Enthoven House.

The “Sustainability Award” category is due to be awarded to a project that minimises carbon emissions, materials and water consumption during construction, or one that encourages biodiversity. Sika’s Temple Park Crescent project in Edinburgh has also been shortlisted for this award. The new build residential development project showcases Sika’s Green Roof System over an impressive 222m2 roof and incorporates SikaRoof® substrate which is made up of 100% recycled materials. The roof will absorb carbon dioxide, insulate the building and control stormwater levels, all whilst promoting biodiversity growth.

The annual SPRA Award Luncheon is taking place on 6th June 2024 at the Burlington Hotel in Birmingham, promising to be a key event in the roofing industry calendar. Sika is looking forward to joining industry colleagues, networking with peers and celebrating excellence in the roofing industry.
