At a meeting of our Council today (29 February 2024), Members of the Construction Industry Council (CIC) appointed Ian Brant as their new Deputy Chair commencing with immediate effect.

Ian is anticipated to assume the role of Chair, subject to Council approval after Dr Wei Yang, the current Chair, steps down from her two-year term during CIC's June 2025 Council meeting. Wei will then take up the position of Immediate Past Chair for a final year, adhering to CIC's rules and bylaws.

Ian is a Director at Brant Construction Quantum Experts, a consultancy specialising in construction dispute avoidance, dispute resolution and drafting Expert quantum reports.

Ian is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), serving on National and International committees for them and is currently serving as an elected Trustee.

Ian takes over from former CIC Chair Justin Sullivan who was currently in the role of immediate past chair.

Ian Brant, said of his appointment: "I am deeply honoured to have been elected as the new Deputy Chair for the Construction Industry Council. CIC is uniquely positioned to help the built environment professional bodies and its wider membership to liaise with government for the benefit of our industry and society.

I look forward to working closely with our current Chair, Dr Wei Yang, and our Chief Executive Graham Watts OBE, as well as our experienced and dedicated Board of Directors in driving that collective ambition.”

CIC Chair Wei Yang welcomed this new appointment saying: “I would like to congratulate Ian on his new position as CIC Deputy Chair. I look forward to working closely with Ian to enhance the profile of the construction industry, and to advance CIC’s strategic priorities in bringing built environment professions together for the public good.
