CIC appoints Simon Rawlinson as new Deputy Chair

At a meeting of our Council today (10 June 2026), Members of the Construction Industry Council (CIC) appointed Simon Rawlinson MRICS as their new Deputy Chair with immediate effect.

Subject to Council approval, Simon is expected to assume the role of Chair following the completion of current CIC Chair Ian Brant's two-year term at the June 2027 Council meeting. In accordance with CIC's rules and bylaws, Ian will subsequently take on the role of Deputy Chair for a further year.

Simon is Head of Strategic Research and Insight at Arcadis, leading research, market intelligence and thought leadership across the UK and Europe. He oversees a major portfolio of industry publications, providing insight on construction markets, infrastructure and sector transformation, and has contributed to landmark UK programmes including HS2, Tideway and the Lower Thames Crossing.

Simon brings more than 30 years' experience in the built environment, combining technical expertise as a chartered surveyor with a strong track record in strategy, industry collaboration and professional leadership. Simon previously held senior roles at Davis Langdon and began his career at Building Design Partnership.

Simon succeeds Dr Wei Yang OBE, who has served as Deputy Chair following her tenure as CIC Chair.
