Sustainability at the heart of Mira showers ESG report

  •

Mira Showers is committed to implementing sustainability initiatives and processes throughout its business practices - an ethos perfectly encapsulated in its recently released Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) report.

As an organisation that understands the need to address environmental and social challenges while promoting transparency throughout the business, Mira Showers, and parent company Kohler Mira, releases its ESG report every year to illustrate its progress against its multitude of ESG commitments.

Underlining its drive to reduce its environmental footprint while enhancing the showering experience for its customers, Mira Showers’ report encompasses the 12-month period between January 2024 and December 2024 while detailing its ESG strategy and commitments.

Testimony to Mira Showers’ ESG strategy is the company’s four main pillars; Better Lives, Better Workplace, Better Planet, and Better Communities. Consequently, the organisation doesn’t just focus on improving the shower experience for users, it also pays close attention to its impact on people and the planet.

In 2023, the company set itself a goal to eliminate single-use plastic from its product packaging by the end of 2025. It has since achieved this in its shower tray packaging, by implementing an innovative cardboard solution, which eliminated all expanded polystyrene (EPS).

Additionally, 53 plastic bag components were removed, saving over a ton of single-use plastic per year. This equated to around 860,000 plastic bags.

The company’s dedication towards building a better planet was further supported by its reduction in resources usage. The adoption of 100% renewable electricity by 2035, achievement of net zero scope 1 and 2 emissions, and recycling of waste generated and water waste will help the company meet its target of reducing resources usage by 3% a year.

The management team at Mira Showers also work hard to provide a workplace where people feel respected and valued. Clear communication and engagement, diversity and inclusion initiatives, and ongoing professional development programmes help foster a diverse and truly inclusive culture.

Emma Foster, Managing Director at Kohler Mira, recognises the part the group, has to play in reducing carbon emissions in the built environment. She said: “Our ESG commitments have never been more critical with 2024 being the first year to breach the 1.5°C warming target set in the Paris Agreement and a record year for global sea temperatures.

“With innovation at the core of what we do, we are continuously looking for ways to offer our customers the very best showering experience without using any more water or energy. Last year saw us launch two showers incorporating new technology to help customers save water – the Mira Platinum digital shower, allowing customers to track their water usage, and the Mira Sport with AirboostTM, an electric shower that infuses water with air to create a more powerful flow without using more water.

“I continue to be proud of the progress the business is making and the passion of our associates to deliver against our targets. But the most important part of the report isn’t our achievements last year, it’s where we set out our sustainability strategy. We know there is still a lot to do.”
