Sika’s roofing division wins UK award

Sika’s Roofing Division is proud to announce a recent win at the NFRC UK Roofing Awards 2024 under the category of “Bituminous Hot Applied Liquid Waterproofing”. The award-winning project was Rhodes House at the University of Oxford, and was installed in partnership with Fenland Flat Roofing Ltd.

The NFRC is the largest and most influential roofing trade association in the UK, and promotes quality and high standards in people, products and projects. Its glamorous annual Roofing Awards ceremony took place on 10th May 2024 at the Intercontinental London in the O2.

Sika’s Roofing Division and Fenland Flat Roofing Ltd were shortlisted against three other projects within the category, but came out victorious with its successful roof installation alongside a Grade II listed building owned by the University of Oxford. Rhodes House underwent a refurbishment in 2023, leading to new subterranean spaces being excavated that required a waterproofing solution.

Sika’s products were used to waterproof a large volume of concrete at zero-degree falls. The hot melt structural waterproofing was also required to link with the 1928’s building original shape as well as new podium roofs, meaning the project featured many complexities and details.

Charles Pierce at Sika said: "We are honoured to receive this award from the NFRC, recognising our work as well as Fenland Flat Roofing Ltd's great workmanship on the Rhodes House Project."

“This complex heritage restoration showcased our ability to deliver high-performance waterproofing solutions that meet the most demanding specifications, and we are proud to have played a part in preserving this historic building.”

By combining premium products with expert installation, Sikanensured this landmark at the University of Oxford can be enjoyed by generations to come.
