Sika shortlisted for multiple awards
Sika’s Roofing Division, is proud to announce that it has been shortlisted in six categories at the Single Ply Roofing Association (SPRA) Awards 2025, celebrating excellence, innovation, and sustainability in the roofing industry.
The SPRA Awards spotlight outstanding achievements in single ply roofing, and this year Sika along with its contractor partners have been recognised for their exceptional work on several diverse and high-impact projects. The Robin House project, in partnership with Aim Developments, has been shortlisted for the Best Detailing and Best Refurbishment categories. The impactful project included refurbishing a 650m2 roof for a children’s hospice providing vital care and comfort to families in the area of Balloch.
The Art Shack project, undertaken alongside GLA Group, took place at HMP Hollesley Bay, a Category D prison and Young Offender Institute (YOI) in Suffolk. It was a unique initiative that not only saw the refurbishment of a shed used as an art shack for creative activities, but also included prisoners on the project team, using skills learnt at roofing courses conducted previously in the prison. The project impressed judges, and has been shortlisted in the Best Small Project category.
In the Sustainability category, Sika has been shortlisted for two projects; Cow Green in Halifax and J Smart Office Buildings in London. The J Smart Office project, in collaboration with Ashton Building Systems, was among the first to incorporate the innovative Sika Roof Anchors for the installation of photovoltaic (PV) systems, showcasing to the judges a commitment to modern, sustainable building practices. The Cow Green project, conducted in partnership with Briggs Amasco, is a mixture of high quality, energy efficient one and two-bedroom apartments with bike storage and electric charging points. It is Placefirst’s (client) most sustainable project to date.
Sika has also been recognised for several additional projects. The Maritime Academy project in Rochester, delivered in partnership with Marksman Roofing & Cladding, has been shortlisted in the Best New Build category. This striking new secondary school features a highly serviced roofscape and bespoke rooflights that form a key part of its architectural identity, all waterproofed using Sikaplan® G-15 to ensure long-term durability and visual consistency.
In the Best Refurbishment and Health and Safety Award categories, the Capita Park project in Rotherham, completed with Central Group, stood out for its meticulous 11,000m² refurbishment of an occupied call centre facility. The works were carried out without disrupting operations, and demonstrated exceptional safety planning and collaborative delivery across a complex, live site.
"We are honoured to be shortlisted across such a wide range of categories,” said Mark Gatrell, Head of Business Unit - Roofing at Sika. “These nominations are a testament to the strength of our partnerships, the skills of our roofing contractor partners, and the innovative thinking that goes into every Sika product. We look forward to celebrating industry excellence with our colleagues at the awards ceremony."
The winners of the SPRA Awards 2025 will be announced at the SPRA Awards Luncheon on the 12th June at Hilton NEC in Birmingham, where roofing industry leaders will gather to celebrating outstanding contributions to the sector.
