Recticel data sheets - a trusted source of information
Data sheets containing a range of key product information are crucial to improving UK building standards. Their details relating to specification, installation, performance, maintenance and accreditation support the decision-making process, assuring buyers of a product or material’s quality and project suitability.
Incorrect product choices based on inaccurate, incomplete or misleading information can result in gaps between the specification and the actual product’s performance. For example, achieving compliant energy standards or targeted U-values is jeopardised when insulation falls short of design expectations due to misinformation or misinterpretation. In such cases, costly and time-consuming refurbishment is a potential outcome. If not addressed, the end-user could be in line for higher-than-necessary fuel bills, with environmental impacts a further knock-on effect. A building’s structural and fire safety could also be compromised by unclear or unreliable product data.
Assessment of Product Information
Code for Construction Product Information (CCPI) assessment corroborates performance claims in product data sheets and confirms that the information meets the CCPI standard. The Code was initiated by the Construction Product Association (CPA) as a direct response to Dame Judith Hackitt’s post-Grenfell review of Building Regulations and Fire Safety. The review highlighted the urgent need to address the marketing practices of construction product organisations.
CCPI aims to instill product information that is clear, accurate, accessible, up-to-date and unambiguous as part of a ‘positive culture change’ in the manufacturing and supply sector. Such an outcome will allow clients, specifiers and users to make informed product choices based on their certified performance capabilities; it will also support the drive for improved building quality and safety standard
Technical Library Documents Recticel Product and Performance
