Proteus shortlisted for NFRC Award at 25 Moorgate
Proteus Waterproofing has successfully delivered a highly complex roof waterproofing package at 25 Moorgate, London - a landmark 72,000 sq. ft office redevelopment in the heart of the City - a project now shortlisted for an NFRC Roofing Award in the Cold Applied Liquid Waterproofing category.
The scheme represented a major transformation of an existing building into a modern, low-carbon workspace that delivered BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ and WELL ‘Platinum’ standards, placing performance, durability and environmental efficiency as a key part of the design.
Working in partnership with an Approved Contractor, Essential Building Services (EBS), Proteus led the design and delivery of waterproofing systems across multiple roof levels, including terraces and the main roof structure, integrating both exposed and buried applications.
Delivering Under Pressure in a Complex City Environment
Set within one of London’s busiest commercial districts, the project presented a series of technical and logistical challenges. These included the integration of new and existing roof structures, low upstands, complex interfaces with cladding systems and working within confined rooftop spaces alongside multiple trades.
The programme was further complicated by a mid-project change in main contractor and design team, requiring rapid reassessment of waterproofing details without impacting delivery timelines.
Despite these pressures, Proteus and EBS maintained momentum through a highly collaborative and adaptable approach, ensuring the project remained on schedule and met stringent performance requirements.

High-Performance Waterproofing Solution
Proteus installed its Cold Melt® waterproofing system across the project, providing a durable, fully bonded solution capable of handling complex roof layouts while delivering long-term protection against water ingress.
A critical additional element was the successful completion of Electronic Leak Detection (ELD) testing, with all results verified and signed off by the Proteus Technical Team prior to final finishes. This provided full assurance of system integrity, and formed part of the long-term guarantee.
Recognition for Technical Excellence
The project’s inclusion on the NFRC Awards shortlist highlights the quality of both design and execution, recognising the ability of the team to deliver a technically demanding waterproofing solution within a challenging urban environment.
The finished development now provides premium office space, enhanced by a series of rooftop terraces and a communal club space, all supported by a robust and future-proof roofing system.
The project further reinforces Proteus Waterproofing’s position as a trusted partner for delivering technically complex roofing solutions across both new build and refurbishment sectors.
