Leviat launches new CPD seminar

Masonry support specialist Leviat, one of the UK’s first fully ‘Gateway 2 ready’ building product manufacturers, has announced the launch of a new Continuing Professional Development (CPD) seminar designed to help architects, engineers and contractors to understand and confidently navigate the new Gateway 2 process for high-risk buildings.

Introduced in October 2023, the new Gateway process marked a pivotal change in the construction approval process for all High-Risk Buildings, requiring a clear, structured design ahead of construction commencing, along with a much higher level of detailing at the early stages of a project.

Building on its market-leading expertise in façade support and structural connection systems, and experience with over 40 major UK Gateway projects since the introduction of the new regime, Leviat’s latest CPD aims to provide attendees with a clear understanding of the operation of the Gateway process and the practical steps required for successful Gateway 2 submissions.

The new CPD addresses the three key stages of the gateway process, outlining in detail the requirements of each and explaining the importance of early involvement in the project and how Leviat’s expertise in high integrity construction products, and enhanced front-end design services, can help guide the project through each stage.

It explains how Leviat’s expert team of draughtpersons, design technicians and structural engineers can help reduce delays and achieve a problem-free transition through each stage, liaising with project architects and engineers to produce fully detailed and considered designs, complete with detailed drawings and calculations to support the Gateway 2 submission.

Following successful submission, they can go on to provide precise manufacturing details, clearly laid out in the format required for Gateway 2 and, once on-site, will provide the necessary warranties, insurance and complete manufacturing drawings, to support the project throughout the construction phase and beyond.

Part of a wide range of Leviat CPD seminars, which also include training and guidance CPD’s for contractors and installers, the new Gateway 2 seminars can be tailored to meet the needs of design teams, developers and contractors, and can be delivered, by arrangement, either at Leviat’s regional facilities (including the Sheffield HQ), at client offices, or online via Microsoft Teams.
