John Sutch Cranes gains support from Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner

Deputy Prime Minister and local Dukinfield MP, Angela Rayner, has pledged to support John Sutch Cranes in its ongoing efforts to address restrictive legislation impacting its fleet operations across the UK.
John Sutch Cranes, a national leader in crane hire and contract lifting, welcomed the Deputy Prime Minister to their Manchester depot in her role as constituency MP to hear at first hand some of the challenges that the industry is facing in mobilising their crane fleet to get Britain building.

The inconsistencies in how local councils and police forces enforce regulations on mobile cranes have caused significant operational challenges for the company.

Despite full compliance with legal requirements, these restrictions have led to delays and financial strain, affecting both John Sutch Cranes and the wider crane and construction industry.

As part of this long-running campaign, John Sutch Cranes team led by Managing Director Hayley Sutch and Sales Director Paul Parry presented the issues, which included embargoes and movement orders to Ms Rayner, who has vowed to help.

Ms Rayner, who is also Secretary of State for Housing, Communities, and Local Government, has encouraged John Sutch Cranes to engage further with her.

During the meeting Ms Rayner said she will liaise with Westminster colleagues and lead cross-departmental discussions with the Home Office to address the broader implications of the issue.

John Sutch Cranes remains committed to working collaboratively with policymakers, local authorities and industry representatives to create fairer, more consistent regulations that enable businesses to operate effectively while maintaining safety and compliance.

To strengthen its efforts, the company also welcomed the attendance and support of David Smith, Legal Manager at the Construction Plant Hire Association (CPA).

The CPA has been instrumental in advocating for more consistent and fair regulations and continues to support John Sutch Cranes in finding a resolution.
