Helping shape the future of project controls

  •

Underlining a real drive to spearhead innovation and break down the barriers to technology adoption across the construction industry, Greg Lawton, CEO of Nodes & Links, has been elected a Fellow of the Controls & Skills Authority (CASA).

The CASA is the professional authority for Estimating, Cost, Planning and Project Controls in the UK. Designed exclusively to raise the profile, standards and influence of the project controls sector, the body provides trusted accreditation and apprenticeship programmes to create the next generation of project controllers.

As a Fellow of CASA, Greg will support the development of project controls individuals through ongoing research, teaching and the presentation of papers and publications on the increasing need to implement AI and technology.

With the control of costs, schedules and scopes a vital aspect of construction project management, technology – and AI in particular – are increasingly offering a faster, more reliable and more accurate alternative to the traditionally used manual, paper-based method.

However, for the industry to truly embrace the benefits of leveraging such technology, education and awareness needs to be improved. Greg’s appointment as a Fellow of CASA will offer a superb opportunity to shape the future of the sector and lower the barriers towards AI adoption across the built environment.

He said: “It is an absolute honour to have been named a Fellow of the Controls & Skills Authority. As part of my role, I’m going to be contributing to the development of their AI knowledge base.

“With AI increasingly gaining significance in the construction industry as every year passes, it is truly revolutionising project controls. With that in mind, we need to make sure that everyone is equipped in this new world.

“We don’t want people being left behind! So, I’m delighted to have the opportunity to provide project controllers with the knowledge and support they need to really drive the industry forward and embrace technology to the fullest.”
