FIS calls for innovators in the industry to enter 2026 Innovation Awards

  •

The Finishes and Interiors Sector (FIS) is calling on companies across the industry to submit their entries for the 2026 FIS Innovation Awards, with the entry deadline set for 31st July.

The awards were created to challenge a persistent misconception that construction is not an innovative industry. FIS aims to debunk that myth by shining a light on the ideas, products and technologies that are genuinely changing how the sector works. It aims to recognise innovations that meet a real need, and that have evidence of adoption or planned use in a commercial environment.

"By innovation, we mean the successful creation of new ideas and bringing creative ideas to life," Iain McIlwee, Chief Executive of FIS said. “The focus is on solutions that improve efficiency, productivity, performance, quality, or the wider perception of the finishes and interiors sector.”

Categories for 2026 include Product Innovation, Digital Innovation and Sustainable Innovation. An overall Innovation of the Year award will also be presented, decided live by audience vote on the night of the awards ceremony.

The Awards are open to all companies operating in the finishes and interiors sector, regardless of size. To qualify, innovations must have been introduced to the UK market within the last five years.

Last year's ceremony recognised Architectural Wallsz for its Fire Rated Back-to-Back Headwall (Product Innovation, sponsored by Simonswerk), XFrame for its circular built solutions (Sustainability Innovation, sponsored by Specfinish, and also crowned overall Innovation of the Year), and Circuland for its AI-powered platform (Digital Innovation, sponsored by Procore).

Award winners will be announced at the glamorous FIS Innovation Awards Dinner on 22nd October 2026 in Towcester, Northamptonshire.

FIS is encouraging companies of all sizes, from manufacturers to contractors and digital innovators, to put their innovations forward and be part of the conversation shaping the future of the sector.
