BCIA names judges for industry awards

  •

With anticipation building towards the Building Controls Industry Association (BCIA) Awards 2025, the judges given the tough task of deciding the winners have been announced.

As one of the sector’s hottest yearly events, the BCIA awards evening shines a spotlight on talented professionals from across the industry, focusing on the incredible innovations and excellence of not just individuals but companies and organisations.

With so many strong categories and various deserving winners competing for each award, the awards evening can often be a hugely rewarding but thoroughly challenging evening for the judges.

However, as some of the leading names in the industry, the judges are the most qualified to identify the right winners, with them being invited to join the judging panel and selected based on their in-depth BEMS industry knowledge. Each judging panel will also feature a mix of BCIA and industry representation to ensure the right balance.

The judges for the BCIA Awards 2025 are as follows:

Stacey Lucas – President, BCIA

Jen Vickers – Vice President, BCIA

Graeme Rees – Immediate Past President, BCIA

Greg Smith – Chair of Young Engineers Network

Jon Belfield – InTandem Systems

Jo Harris – Sodexho

David Stevens – CIBSE FM Group

Tony Tanswell – Lecturer, BCIA

Andy Camsell – Novus Controls

Jamie Finnan – TR Control Solutions

Ivo Krastins – Savills

Mark Tilbee – Carrier Building Technologies

Phil Draper – CIBSE

Edward Williams – Thanium Nine

Mat Harrison – IO Controls

Next year’s awards are set to be some of the fiercely contested yet, so the newly announced judges are likely to have very difficult decisions to make. Stacey Lucas, BCIA President and Chair of Judges, revealed the incredibly important role herself and the other judges will have. She said: “The building controls sector features some incredibly talented people and companies and it’s an honour for the BCIA to highlight these individuals and organisations through our yearly awards.

“I was part of the judging panel for 2024’s event and we had some incredibly tough decisions to make. I have no doubt that next year’s event will be exactly the same – but I’m excited for it and it looks set to be a wonderful evening once again.”

Fellow judge, Jon Belfield, of InTandem Systems, highlighted the responsibility they all share. He said: “It’s a professional duty and a privilege because you can tell the pride and effort that’s gone into writing each award entry. The duty is then incumbent on the judges to do justice to those entries.”

The BCIA Awards 2025 will take place on Thursday 1st May 2025 at The Eastside Rooms in Birmingham. There are ten award categories and entries are open until Thursday 23rd January 2025, so place your nominations today!
